Enable Quality in Manufacturing settings, define quality.point controls on operations or products, and trigger quality.check records on receipt, manufacturing, or delivery steps. Tie failure actions to scrap, rework MOs, or quarantine locations. Use quality alerts for deviations and link measurements to work orders for in-process inspection data.
Steps
- Install quality and quality_mrp; enable Quality on Manufacturing → Settings.
- Create quality.point with test type (pass/fail, measure, picture) on picking types or work centers.
- On mrp.workorder, configure quality checks to fire at start, during, or end of operation.
- Operators complete quality.check in shop floor or quality app before MO can proceed.
- Map failure to scrap via stock.scrap or create rework routing on alternate BOM.
- Use quality.alert for nonconformance with root cause and linked lot_id.
- Review Quality → Reporting for pass rates by work center and product.
Common mistakes
- Quality points on wrong operation type so checks never trigger.
- Allowing MO closure without mandatory check completion.
- Missing units on measure-type tests causing false failures.
- Not linking checks to lots for traceability on recalls.
- Duplicating points per variant causing double inspections.
Odoo version notes
Quality for manufacturing is strongest in Enterprise (quality_mrp) for Odoo 16–18; Community may use OCA quality modules on the same hooks. Checks integrate with barcode work orders in Enterprise. Upgrades should retest studio-inherited quality.point domains. Pharma sites often add electronic signatures via validated custom modules.
When to bring in help
